Usage Data
Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service. Usage Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that You visit, the time and date of Your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
When You access the Service by or through a mobile device, We may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device You use, Your mobile device's unique ID, the IP address of Your mobile device, Your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser You use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
Information Collected while Using the Application
While using Our Application, in order to provide features of Our Application, We may collect, with Your prior permission:
- Location Information: We may collect location data to calculate distance traveled during workouts and step tracking. Location data is only collected when the app is actively being used for fitness tracking and is not used for advertising or other purposes. You can disable location services in your device settings at any time.
- Motion and Fitness Activity Data:
We collect motion and fitness activity data from your device's built-in motion sensors (including accelerometer, gyroscope, and motion coprocessor) and HealthKit/Google Fit integration to automatically track and analyze your physical activity. This data collection is essential for providing core fitness tracking features.
Specific Data Collected:
- Step count and step frequency
- Distance traveled (walking, running, cycling)
- Calories burned during activities
- Active energy expenditure
- Exercise duration and intensity
- Movement patterns and activity type detection
- Heart rate data (if available from connected devices)
- Workout session data and exercise performance metrics
How We Use This Data with Specific Examples:
- Automatic Activity Tracking: When you walk or run, the app uses motion sensor data to automatically detect and record your activity without requiring manual entry. For example, if you go for a 30-minute walk, the app will automatically log your steps, distance (e.g., 2.5 miles), calories burned (e.g., 180 calories), and duration, then display this information in your daily activity dashboard.
- Daily Activity Goals: The app uses your step count and activity data to track progress toward your daily activity goals. For instance, if your goal is 10,000 steps per day, the app continuously monitors your step count throughout the day and updates your progress percentage in real-time (e.g., "7,500/10,000 steps - 75% complete").
- Calorie Calculation: Motion and fitness data is used to calculate calories burned during workouts and daily activities. For example, when you complete a 45-minute HIIT workout, the app uses motion sensor data to determine exercise intensity and calculates the exact calories burned (e.g., "HIIT Workout: 450 calories burned") which is then added to your daily calorie expenditure total.
- Workout Detection and Logging: The app analyzes motion patterns to automatically detect when you start and stop different types of workouts. For example, if you begin running, the app detects the running motion pattern, automatically starts a workout timer, tracks your pace, distance, and calories, and logs the complete workout session in your fitness history.
- Progress Tracking and Analytics: Motion and fitness data is aggregated over time to show your fitness progress. For example, the app compares your weekly step averages, tracks improvements in workout duration and intensity, and generates progress charts showing how your activity levels have changed over weeks or months.
- Personalized Recommendations: Based on your activity patterns and fitness data, the app provides personalized workout recommendations. For example, if the app detects you consistently walk 5,000 steps per day, it may suggest increasing your daily goal to 7,500 steps or recommend specific exercises to help you reach higher activity levels.
- Health Metrics Integration: Motion and fitness data is synchronized with your HealthKit or Google Fit data to provide a comprehensive view of your health. For example, your step count from the app is combined with heart rate data from your connected fitness tracker to calculate more accurate calorie burn estimates and provide complete workout summaries.
Data Storage and Processing: This motion and fitness activity data is stored securely on your device and synchronized to our secure servers (via Firebase) to enable data backup, cross-device synchronization, and progress tracking across all your devices. The data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.
User Control: You can disable motion and fitness activity tracking at any time through your device settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness). However, disabling this access will limit the app's ability to automatically track your activities, and you will need to manually log workouts and activities.
Purpose Statement for App Store: "Fit By Jonetics uses Motion & Fitness Activity data to automatically track your daily steps, distance traveled, calories burned, and workout sessions. For example, when you walk or run, the app detects your activity using motion sensors, automatically logs your steps and distance (e.g., '2.5 miles walked, 180 calories burned'), updates your daily activity goals, and records the complete workout in your fitness history. This data enables automatic activity tracking, real-time progress monitoring toward daily goals, accurate calorie calculations, workout detection and logging, and personalized fitness recommendations based on your activity patterns."
- Camera and Photo Library: We access your device's camera and photo library to allow you to take photos of food items for meal logging and nutrition tracking. When you take a photo of food, the image is processed by Google Gemini API to identify the food and extract nutritional information. Photos are used only for food recognition and meal logging features. Processed images are not stored permanently. You can disable camera and photo library access in your device settings at any time.
- Health Data Integration (HealthKit/Google Fit): With your explicit permission, we may read and write health data to Apple HealthKit (iOS) or Google Fit (Android). This includes step counts, workout data, heart rate (if available), and other fitness metrics. This integration allows the app to sync with your device's health data and provide a comprehensive view of your fitness progress. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device's Health or Google Fit settings.
- Push Notifications: We use push notifications to send you fitness reminders, motivational messages, and app updates. You can disable push notifications in your device settings at any time.
- Contacts (Not Used): Our app does not access your contacts. Any contacts permission request is from third-party libraries and is not used by our app.
- Device Information: We collect device identifiers, operating system information, and app version to provide technical support and improve app functionality.
We use this information to provide features of Our Service, to improve and customize Our Service. The information may be uploaded to the Company's servers and/or a Service Provider's server or it may be simply stored on Your device.
You can enable or disable access to this information at any time, through Your Device settings.
